Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have kidnapped twenty
three females in Damaga District of Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara
State.
A resident of the area, Malam Ahmed Mohammed disclosed this
in a telephone interview with DAILY POST on Thursday night.
According to him, the incident occurred on Wednesday at
about 12:00 pm, when the victims went to the bush in search of firewood.
“The victims were mainly teenage girls and widows but the
terrorists set free the children among them.
“As I am talking to you, twenty three of them are now in
captivity,” he said.
The bandits also invaded Talata Madara town, the
headquarters of Talata Madara Local Government Area of Zamfara State and
kidnapped ten staff of a road construction company, Triacta.
A resident of the area, Malam Abdulrahman Yusuf, disclosed
that the hoodlums stormed the town at about 11:00 pm on Wednesday and began
shooting sporadically.
He added that they went straight to the house of a former
member representing Talata Madara and Anka in the House of Representatives,
Hon. Kabiru Classic.
“The bandits were successfully chased out by the military
after spending one and a half hours operating in the town,” he said.
However, efforts to get response from the State Police
Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Yazeed Abubakar proved
unsuccessful as all his telephone lines were not reachable.
