The Jigawa State Consumer Protection Committee said it has
burnt adulterated foodstuff worth two million naira in Babura and Gumel local
government areas of the state.
The chairman of the committee, Alhaji Farouk Abdallah
Malammadori said the items, including bags of sesame, hibiscus, beans and
millets, were seized during the committee’s raid at Gumel and Babura markets.
According to him, the committee is working with the mobile
court presided over by Justice Mannir Sarki to prosecute the perpetrators.
He further reiterated that the committee will not hesitate
to punish anybody found guilty of adulterating food items.
