A renowned political Activist in Kaduna State, Dr. James
Bawasha on Wednesday, condemned the killing of a Catholic priest; Reverend
Father John Cheitnum by his abductors.
Bandits had on July 16, 2022, kidnapped two priests,
Reverend Father John Cheitnum and Reverend Father Donatus Cleopas at Yadin Gura
in the Lere Local government area of the state but the decomposing body of
Father John Cheitnum was reportedly found seven days after their abduction.
Dr. Bawasha noted that the killing in recent times in Kaduna
State has instilled fear in the minds of Christian leaders who may be thinking
that some group of people are after them.
He urged the security operatives to go after the culprits,
arrest them and make them suffer for the crimes they have committed.
“As a body of Christ, there may be fears among brethren,
among leaders of the church, but as peace-loving people, we should all embark
on fasting prayers, which is the only weapon of Christians.
”They may come with several AKs but we only have God who is above
all weapons. We should watch and pray, never give up” he said
He cursed the killers that their generation will never know
peace, adding that an attack on Christians, is equally an attack on Christ.
