A team of soldiers at Zurak Kampani, Wase local government
area of Plateau state have been ambushed by bandits.
According to locals, the bandits came to the community when
the locals were busy in market activities.
Wase Local Government Area Headquarters is 100 km drive to
Zurak Kampani community.
A source told DAILY POST that the bandits killed one soldier
and injured one other, saying that the soldiers stationed in the area repelled
the attack.
He stated that a day before the ambush, bandits stormed
Pinau village of the same local government area, and rustled over 500 cattle.
He lamented that Wase communities have of recent been
experiencing banditry activities in recent time, forcing many to flee their
homes for safety.
However, the spokesperson of a multi-security taskforce,
Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major Ishaku Takwa, who confirmed the ambush, said
no soldier was killed in the incident and explained that the taskforce has been
able to maintain peace in the state.
