Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to consider a political solution on charges against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

DAILY POST recalls that some Southeast leaders had during President Buhari’s visit to Ebonyi State, appealed for a political solution to the case of the secessionist who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

They made the call as a means of curtailing the security crisis rocking the region, following the sit-at-home order being enforced by some youths in solidarity with the detained IPOB leader.

But the president, in his response to the appeal, said the court should be allowed to determine the end of the case.

However, Sani who is a governorship aspirant in Kaduna State, said the president should consider the request of the Southeast leaders since they have “offered themselves as guarantors”.

In a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship aspirant opined that the decision may be hard but worth it, saying no price is too much for peace.

He said, “Since the South-East leaders have respectfully offered themselves as guarantors, the President should look into their humble request for a political solution to the Kanu’s case. No price is too much for peace”.
